...For making our second Garden Party Series such a rousing success! Pics and notes from Cat Campion's awesome sprouting workshop will be posted asap, along with pics of the lovely Fort King's musical stylings. Sproutastic!

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to thank you all so much for coming out and making our kick off mixer so amazing! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Within the next week I will start adding more content about last weeks speakers and their projects/gardens etc.. to www.rocknrollcommunitygarden.blogspot.com. Please check in!

This Sunday (May 31st) we will be at the Fountain Community Garden @ 6pm.
Sprouting Workshop by Cat Campion and live music by Fort King.

Sprouting Starter Kits & Mimosas will be available for purchase.

Additional Speaker: Nicole Gatto - May 24th

Nichole Gatto holds a Master degree in Public Health and a PhD in Epidemiology and has over 15 years of experience in health science research. She is currently a post-doctoral research fellow at UCLA where she teaches and does research on genetic, environmental and occupational risk factors for Parkinson’s disease, with a specific focus on the role of pesticides in the disease. Nicole serves as Director of Public Health and Safety on the Highland Park Neighborhood Council, and can be found on Friday evenings at the Eagle Rock farmer’s market where she volunteers for the Sweredowski family farm. Nicole is the founder and director of the Milagro Allegro Community Garden in Highland Park, which broke ground on February 21th and celebrated its grand opening on May 9th.

Get a head start w/ RnRCG - Volunteer This Sunday!

Looking for a few volunteers for this Sundays Secret Garden Party!

If any of you are interested, available, or interestingly available, check it yo - before we wreck it ( you shall receive yummy vittles and vino ;) and good karma! )

(rocknroll community garden is a not for profit community collective which runs through a membership program)

We need:
- One person to assist our gorgeous gypsy caterer.
- One person to help out at the garden doors
- One person to assist our sexy ass bartender
- One person to help us keep things sparkling during the event
- One person to help us make things even prettier on saturday (day before event)
- Any people who can donate a couple of chairs or tables for the evening

 Joseph Gárate is a classically trained singer, a songwriter, and a stage performer from the San Gabriel Valley area of Los Angeles, California. In addition to his work with The Lexingtons, Joseph has collaborated with a variety of local songwriters and musicians. A recording of his original songs will be completed this Summer. Pedra Furmall works as an Assistant Arboretum Gardener for LA County Department of Parks and Recreation. She has been designing and installing public display gardens for 5 years within LA county. Her focus is water-wise gardening with cactus and succulents. Not only will she discuss how anyone can begin these easy cost effective gardens, she will show how color and form can create a garden composition that will look proffessional and artistic year round.

RocknRoll Community Garden plans to create the 3rd rooftop garden/farm in Los Angeles. We are based in the Echo Park community, and will feature an ongoing weekly series of gardening, urban farming lectures, self-sustainability demonstrations, live music and drinks.
